I'd like to go back there one day, but I'll be in the suburbs as I have family there. Sydney that is.

i did the east coast last year.
This year landing in sydney, flying to Alice Springs, then down to Perth for xmas and then Sydney. Im stopping just outside the CBD in a beachside suburb called Collaroy at the YHA Sydney Beachhouse.

I got a 6 month for about £40 I reckon, that was back in 2003 though.

You enter for free on your passport for up to 3 months so I don't know why you paid

hows that work then, everyone i know had to get a visa to enter the country. Even the immigration tells you so.

you need a visa to get in yes, my sister has gone out and they refused her at the airport, she got one there and then though.

Ive been pre accepted for a working visa so all is looking good.

We had to go to some place in London and get our Passports encrypted with something to allows us in Oz.

I flew from NZ to Oz and didnt have to pay anything to enter, maybe it was included in the ticket but if it was I didnt know about it, it wasnt stated on the ticket.
