Basically my car was stolen at the start of may, then recovered by me paying tracker £400 with no advice or assistance from the police!! The car was recovered about 150 miles from mine and has been sat in a pound since then. Was told the car would be released this week, this only came about because i kicked up such a stink and complained on Sunday; the force dealing with it claim to have been unable to find out if the force that recovered it had done the forensic testing!! Turns out was done pretty much when the car was recovered
Anyway took the day off work today to get the car as was told on sunday that it would been released Monday, however the papers are yet to be sent to the pound so cant get it Did have a call from the police monday night saying he was waiting for a reply ot of courtesy from the other force about the release and if he hadn't got that by Friday it would be friday at the absolute latest!! Not the end of the world as was able to go up sat morning....
However get an email this morning from the copper involved saying he hasnt heard anything back and not got round to faxing the papers and will have to wait until monday Which is no good to me as cant pick it up next week and go away sat for 1 week and again cant pick it up the week im back because of work!
So god knows when its going to be released and further still as to when i will be able to get it back
Current cost to the tax payer aswell
£528 in fees for it being stored which goes up every night
£105 release fee for the car!!
Have just made another complaint as this is taking the p1ss!

IMO they should be paying for the £400 if they had no involvment of the tracking of the car??
I'd also imagine that if your insurance company are paying out for you to have a rental car until you get yours back, they would try to recover the cost of this from the police?

I thought it was part of the deal with tracker. once you've subscribed they just get straight on it if you tell them it's awol. ?
what was the £400 for?

The car had an unsubscribe tracker, but because the car was stolen within 2 months of me buyin the car you are able to pay a one off fee of £400 which activates the tracker and lifetime subscription which i did. So willing to pay that money myself.
Didnt go through insurance in the end as car was received and dont have courtesy car cover so didnt want to claim and risk my NCB

that makes sense.
can you have one installed and not subscribe to it at all, and just have it incase?
hope the fuzz pull their fingers out anyway.
I know what it's like to have said you'd have something to them by the end of friday and you just never get around to it. you have to balance your comitment to your customer with commitments in your personal life, but it must be frustrating to be on the recieving end.

No its only able to be activated within the first 2 months of purchase of the car, anything else and they wont re activate it!

Police arnt interested in anything they cant fine you with.
I made a complaint 3 weeks ago today about someone scrapping down the side of my car & leaving the scene, gave them - Numberplate, car make, model, colour & description (bits that stuck out to identify it - roof rack, tow bar, etc), informed them that it was captured on the car parks CCTV, & it would be heald for 2 weeks on there.
Not heard a peep, went in Monday & its not had a duty oficer assigned to it as its not high priority. I said WTF ive given you everything except hand over the guy involved.
I wonder how quick they would react if I phoned up & said Hi its ok ive found him myself, ive got him in my boot, hes been in their a good week & half now but its ok ive been feeding him between kickins, eh........where am I now? Oh......im going up the M9 doing a ton, on the phone..........oh & ive got illegal tints & exhaust aswell. BUM ME!!

Probably, everythings sorted in priority so make yourself seem high priority & you'll get them round in minutes bells & whistles included.

its true the police are rubish, just watch police camera action...etc, all they do is prey on kids doing minor things and already hard done to motorists, when theres a bloke a few miles away doing something far worse but they wont bother with him as they might get hurt !
