My GF wants to get a bike as she enjoyed going to llandegla trail the other day.
Now she dosnt understand about bikes at all and was going to buy a £50 full sus
As its her birthday I think I will get her the bike so she can come out riding with me more. I have a choice between 2 at the moment.
Apollo XC.26S 14" Ladies Cross Country Mountain Bike (£150)

OR
Raleigh Team Replica MTB (Can get one that has been ridden once for £150)

I wouldn't normally look at low end bikes like these but this is what the budget allows. What would you go for and why?
My personal feelings are to go with the Raleigh, its obviously a better bike but she isnt 100% keen on the colour. The Apollo isnt going to be a great bike but it looks like they have kept with V-Brakes etc so not to skimp on the level of the other bits etc.
EDIT: Its not going to be ridden hard, its mainly for pottering around the trails and urban stuff to 'get fit' rather than jumping and mega use lol

If you have a budget of £150, get a Giant Rock.
You won't be disappointed. And they do womens frames.
Don't get any of that Apollo or Raleigh rubbish
Yeah, Giant Rock. When I used to work in a bike shop, and they had a budget of £150, that is what we recommended. We sold shit loads and had no come backs.
But remember if you're doing 'proper' trail riding (i.e. not riding around local cycle paths and parks) a £150 bike won't last very long.

I didnt know you could pick up a giant for that price

Looks alright. Females frames, needed or not? She used a Kona Cinder Cone rental bike last time and thats not a female style frame and that seemed fine. Is it worth getting the male or female version?
EDIT: Spec list on the Raleigh looks abit better than the Giant

If you're happy with the spec, then go for it. The geometry of the Giant frames is often quite nice.
With regard to the male/female frames. It depends on your girlfriends preference
