Is it registered in your name or the previous keepers? If its still the previous keepers you will have to send off the little green slip to the DVLA and get a new log book, that doesnt cost anything. But dont do it if you need to tax your car in the next month because you might not have it all back by then!

If its in your name then you will just have to ask for a replacement log book, dont know if you have to pay or not because Ive never done that. How long have you been waiting? The DVLA are slow at the best of times

But theres 100's of different departments at the DVLA, which means it can still get lost.

Either way, if you live locally to a DVLA office, take the slip in there and they'll arrange to have a new V5 sent out. I've had to do it twice and got a new form through in under 3 weeks.
