They visited it on the Life after people thing, said that basically Chernobyl was probably the most advanced city in Eastern Europe, when the plant went tits up.
There was a brand new fairground that had never been used because people had to get out of there.
Some very eerie pics like you said

if i remember right this was all staged and proven to be, she went on a public tour which anyone can go on, then moved stuff about for photo's

look at the giger counter. Thats not that bad for a short time, but wouldn't want to eat/drink anything from around there. That would be more dangerous.

You can go in to certain areas as Ewan Mcgregor and Charlir Boorman visited in the Long way round. Also a car journalist Keith Adams visited on route to taking his SD1 to be restored by a polish garage.
