Before you flame me... Hear me out.

I've come from bikes so comfort really isn't a major thing for me. I'm used to getting soaked, with no ICE and only able to carry one other person with me. It was annoying, and it was nice to have a car now and again when I needed to carry more people and/or stay dry.

I've always wanted a stripped out rally slag. It was always the plan when buying the Corsa. I've been up for most of the night reading threads about stripping daily drivers and that and I'm still very tempted.

My only real worry... What if it's rusted to fuck? I'd be gutted if I stripped the (horrible) interior out to it rusted to fook.

Also, when selling, how much has it knocked off the car? Bare in mind that it will have an XE in it when (if) it's sold, unless it gets crashed before then (which in all honesty, it probably will).

The car is a bit of a shitter anyway in fairness, so it's not as if I'm going to be ruining a rare and luxurious car. The interior is fooking horrid.

Has anyone stripped a car and then regretted it? Surely it'd be practically impossible to get it all back in? I'm sure it would be for me, anyway.

What's your answer to all your mates and family who don't understand? "Why have you ruined your lovely car? It's a heap of scrap metal now!"

I only plan to strip the rear. All the carpets, sound deadening, rear door cards, etc! I just want the 2 front seats, and the dash (for now, anyway). Everything else can go.

Is it possible to leave the rear seatbelts in just in case you need to plop the rear seats back in? Just as a temporary solution to see how I cope with just having 2 seats.

I think I'd like the noise! What do girls say when you pick 'em up for the first time in what must look like a battered up Corsa?

Just wanting to hear opinions from people who use their car as a daily driver, without rear seats and sound deadening who plan to sell the car at some point (I can't see me keeping a Corsa forever).

As I say, I plan to XE it when funds allow (been off work for 7 months now due to a bike injury), but as funds are low I might as well do the non-costly modifications first. I'm not too bothered about the negative comments about it only being a 1.2, because in all honesty, stripping the interior will help a 1.2 more than it'll help a 2.0 in terms of power-to-weight. I also imagine it'd be easier to fit the XE with the car stripped -- surely can't make it any harder (I'm really clutching at straws here, aren't I?).

Has anyone got a good guide anywhere? Are any special tools needed? What are you left with? Do wires need tidying up? Is it a bitch to get the sound deadening out?

It'll be left out on the street -- do you think it makes it more of a target to nick? Or less?

I really don't think I'll miss it that much. I mean, I went out clubbing on Friday with my best mate and 2 girls. I drove because I still can't drink, and it was nice being able to bung 'em in the car, and then drive them back to mine after -- but it's not the end of the world. My mate drives too, so he cudda. It's only an issue now because I'm not drinking. In a few weeks I can't imagine me wanting to avoid drinking so I can drive...

Apologies for the long post. Hopefully some of you will read it and voice your opinion. If you have any questions -- let me know. Cheers guys, as always.

It wouldn't make an XE easier to fit, unless you're fitting the XE in the boot

Won't be hard to do, might be a few wires, from the sound system but they can come out if you're not putting sounds in.

Sound deadening is a bitch, I'm not sure how you do that exactly. Heat gun maybe.

You'll always get the people who say, "Why have you stripped a 1.2?"

Just do what you wanna do.

sound deadening, halogen spot lamp, or hot air gun, heat the tar shit then use a wallpaper scraper to remove, piss easy to do

wash down with white spirit to clean off the remainder.

Stripped my old corsa xe.

Was loud as hell, but worth it imo.

No special tools are needed. A screwdriver for the seats. Take carpet up, then if you havnt got a hot air gun, use a credit card to remove the sound deadening. (won't scratch paint underneath then). Took me an afternoon to strip the car. Was worth it though

Point of no return on stripping; removing the mounts for spare wheel/rear seats. Otherwise, you can always put everything back in
