Seriously Colin been looking for a sensible car recently...just think VAG diesel are a bit dull.

Had a Golf mk5 GT for three week and its a very nice car and I could easily live with one but just aint got that spark to make me want to go drive it?

I will prolly end up with one though

Mk5 GT's are becoming affordable now 9k or so for an 04.

I like the styling, i like plain looking, anything with a dash board resembling a microwave ovens not cool in my book.

Plain Jane ftw

there not normally that bad, average is around 30mpg and my mates wasnt too bad on fuel.

im guessing at 23mpg he was making progress...

Was thinking about of either a 330ci with lpg or 330d a few weeks ago. 330d are silly money at the minute

Thats driving it sensible everyday, def more sensible than the 350z and ZM and considerably less MPG!

A friend of mine has the 330d SMG and he says the MPG on that is pretty poor aswell

Im not sure I could spend 20-30k on a diesel.

I only bought mine to do a job, which its doing very well. The choices were either a 1.9 derv or something petrol & 1.2 or 1.4. Stand by my choice however as soon as possible its going!!

320d it is then

Just can't stand VAG shit

As for 330Ci mpg... bear in mind that Golf GTIs only get 28mpg when giving it some, 23mpg is entirely believable for the average commute when n ot hanging around

I would never consider a Wiesel for a perfomance car

Talking 5-8k max here just to get me to work and back etc

Just ruling out Golfs and Ibiza and they are quite expensive for what they are.....could get a nice E39 50 V8 for that

Althogh with sensible cap on Fabia VRS's can be had for 5k ish

Sorry this threads been binned by talk of diesels Buy Porsche basically

I had a Brand new Golf GT mk5 for two weeks and when diesel was 94p a litre I was only managing 32mpg

If its just for getting to work then a 320 would be more than fine. Although it would have to be a ghay saloon for the money!!

when i was in the states i spent alot of time driving an 04 911 carrera 4s its a great car dont get me wrong but i much prefer the older models, something from around 94 although saying that hers is an auto

I would advice a Monaro 6.0, the first time i drove this car i was just amazed if i could afford one id buy one in an instant

Back on the Porka subject - if you're worried about it going wrong, how about getting a warranty from the likes of Warranty Direct etc?

aftermarket warranties arent usually worth the paper they are written on. So many clauses and on a 60k mile car alot is just wear and tear.

Yeah. Really dissapointed with the warranty on my car seeing as that was pretty much the soul reason I bought from a dealer.
