citrus based agent that cuts through grease. A solvent like brake cleaner would do it too

brake cleaner cuts into grease then evaporates off so i don't think so.

Got any bike chain cleaner? That would do it.

mke sure whatever you put on, leave it to soak for long enough

wd40 will smell and not do alot

white spirit will help but wont get it all out.

give it a go but be careful when scrubbing it, will spread if it hasnt sunk in long enough

have some very good stuff at work, cleans anything off anywhere can't remember what it's called but it's in a silver bottle with blue writing on.

any brake cleaner that's quick drying should work.

dont use vanish, my sister used it on my mums green carpet, the carpet now has a nice light green patch

Me and my mates did this in our rented holiday house last year, except someone had already done it as there was an even bigger stain where the sofa origionally was
Then tried to remove it with fairy liquid and the orange colour came out the sponge

Moral of the story is dont put cream carpet in a rented house
