a few of my mates said that if you get done for something i.e 3 points for a bald tyre, if you dont hear anything within 6 months of the offence they cant do you for it?
a court summons came through the door earlier becuase i forgot to send my licence off for the 3 points etc but its been 6months and 2 weeks..
can i still get done for this then?

there was only 1 copper in the car at the time he gave me 3 points so if i said to the court that the tyre tread was legal and the copper was just looking for something to do me for do u think i would get away with that then because its his word against mine?

Then they would ask why you have waited over 6 months to contest it
You will still get done if you were goin to try and contest it you should have done it a long time ago

You deserve points for running on illegal tyres. Stop cribbing about it and take the charge.

i know that if you get caught speeding and dont get a letter within 6 weeks iirc the charge has to be dropped. unless its going through a company. as this happened to me in my works van

Im pretty sure they have to serve a citation within 6 months of the date of the offence. However it can come several weeks after the 6 months pass if its been raised & is waiting to be hand delivered. I wouldnt put the flags out just yet....or answer the door for a few weeks
I ignored letters offering me 3pts & £60 for going through a red light in June last year, still havnt heard anything from them.

Nip has to come within 28 days or something, if you get one & choose to ignore it they have 6 months-ish to take you to court!

No letter through the door offering you pts/fine within the month? Yes your off the hook!!
They have a month (I think) to raise a FPN, then 6 months to take you to court if you contest it.

Colin knows the website, well he posted it last night! If it's one policeman, they can't do anything iirc. Obviously if they had a camera that's different, but for a bald tyre, that's his word against yours, and no sufficient evidence.
