basically these posh kids are just wandering around india being idiots.

This Posh girl is just going around trying to find under age kids working in these sweat shops, so that the owners of the place get fined and the kids get fired

She thinks she's doing the kids a favour.

but the kid is like 'i can't afford to go to school and pay the fees' ... 'How will I eat? How will my parents eat if I don't work here?'.

Exactly! the kid wants to work there, he isn't being forced.

when did you turn it on? they went to a place for 'rescued' kids.

He was honestly pissed off she'd just stuck her nose in and told them to sack him.

Thing is, these sweat shops are full of adults too... End of the day there isn't much prospects over there in that environment, so they're parents probably work in one of those places, so the kid naturally will follow the footsteps... why (if they're that poor) try to get the parents (who can't afford it) to send him the school, if he's only gonna do it anyway.

May as well start early (as it's pretty easy work) and help out his family by providing some form of income similar to his parents.

It only seems tragic to us westerners because we compare it to our way of life. To them they know no different, they're just greatful to have a job at all.

did you not watch the bit where the kid was kicking off? He was like 'How the hell am I gonna eat now? how is my family going to eat? I can't afford to go to school'

... That's why he kept lying about his age and saying he was 18.

So basically he gets fired and has to waste his time doing nothing (as he won't be going to school instead).

Some sweat shops are horrible and the people in their hate it... but most of the people in this program just see it as a way of life.

I'm not watching it Paul, I saw it last week and i'm recording tonights so will watch it later.

The one I watched though, the people who pick the Cotton get paid £6 a week. Thats pretty shocking.

yeh I agree £6 is shocking considering what the people higher up the chain will be earning... but it's not like the colleagues they're working with will be earning £100 and they're earning £6.

Everyone earns just as little as everyone else at that level. Therefore it's all relative, you could probably buy fresh food over there for a lot less than you can here, so £6 could go a lot further in that area.

The thing is. Food costs have gone up by just as much all over the world as they have here. There is a real problem for peple earning that little.

and so how does it help getting the kid fired or fining the equally poor paid manager of the slum office.

The changes need to be made up in the big fat cat offices... they're the greedy ones who are making huge profits from it... not anyone in the slums... slum workers are just trying to earn what they can, just seemed utterly pointless what the girl was doing last night, going around trying to get people who want to work fired. and fining the equally poor people who are caught out.

To be honest it well within the control of the shops who continually challange purchase costs and increast their profit margins that causes the problem!
