Your parents sometimes.
I'm earning just under 15,000 a year as a brickie (not fully trained etc), and am applying for a £4000 loan to pay for the EK9 im getting.
I'm paying it back over 3 years, and before september i will have just under 3000 of it that will be going in a bank JUST for that purpose of paying back.
In term breaks i can earn 500 in 2 weeks easily to again over the years, put in the account. By the time im out of uni it will be paid off, with only my student loan to repay.
Im then storing the EK9 while im in uni and will be doing about 4000 a year in it - so i can just buy half year tax etc.
I can easily live off my student loan as im not stupid with money and can save when needed to (like i have been doing for the civic).
Yet my dad just had a massive go as i was filling out an application form saying im not allowed to spend my own money on a car - i could uderstand if it were his money, but it's my money, and ME borrowing money that i can easily pay off.
He actually even admitted to me, after i wrote 2 sheets of A4 detailing all my planning it would work, he just 'thinks the idea is too much of a boys idea'
So does that mean he has the mental age of a 19 year old? Knowing something can work but being a moody arsehole
Rant over. Just i should of been buying it next Tuesday

Would he rather you had a girl's idea instead?
He should count himself lucky.

Money in car = money down the drain.
Hes only looking out for you.
But its also a passion and whats the point in earning money if it doesnt make you happy? Thats always my argument.

Think about how he was brought up. Did he have to work for every penny has has or was everything handed to him on a plate? I'm assuming it was probably the first option.
I know its your money and you can do with it as you please, but he's not just being a moodyy arsehole, he's just looking out for you and being a good father.
Appreciate it while you can.
Either way, enjoy th EK9

He's just looking out for you, doesn't want you to piss your money away.

my dad used to be a bit like that to me but now he likes me spending my money i've worked hard for on things i like.
he even wanted me to get the focus st just so he could have a go in it he's always loved his fast fords but that had to take a back seat whilst the house was being built up.
so i guess he loves the fact he can drive something for free that he loves
