Hi, I am thinking about buying a quad for some off-road fun and may do some 50 mile trips. The one I was thinking about is the Yamaha Raptor 250.
Will I be able to do a 50 mile trip without running out of fuel? I am new to quads that is why I am asking.
Thanks.

one of the best quad bikes you can buy, they are not meant for the road or even 50 mile trips, they are off road machines and shouldnt be used on the road for 50 mile trips imo, i hate all these people who buy these shit 250cc quads from ebay and markets

Lol If your new to Quads i wouldnt buy a Raptor My wee brother had a Raptor and a Banshee and there both dangerously fast.
I went on it once and failed and never went on it again.
To answer your question, He could kick fuck out of it forages without filling up. Tenner would last for hours.

Thanks for the responses
@Timbaland - I do not expect to do stunts but I'd like one which I do not grow out. I am 22 and I think I can handle 250cc in a responsible way.
I read that the Raptor has electric start by a push button. Is this keyless start? Also can you lock it somehow without chaining it to something?
Thanks.

As long as your responsible then i dont see a problem but they are dangerous bikes. My wee brother took a while before he could use it full power, Once he did the thing was off, Couldnt catch it lol.
Both of his were electric start and both had ignition lock, We always assumed that because the Banshee was heavier it would be safer to have parked outside......That was the one that was stolen.
Deffo lock them up inside ideally or a big anchor bolt in the ground, Be responsible and i can guarentee you wil have some fun with it, There awesome machines.

Thanks for the answer It will surely be parked inside a garage when I am not using it but I will carry a chain with me in case I need to lock it.
Cheers

I know but I do not wish to get from A to B in the fastest time possible.
Well actually you can pass ... shift your weight to left or right and do a side wheelie
I won't try that for sure

are these the banshee replacements? my mate got a brand new blue one about 2 years ago and its either 250cc or 500cc and it was silly quick and very snappy on the acceleration,at low speeds it just feels like the front wants to come up everytime you use the throttle.
now has a race engine and he goes all over the place entering racing comps etc with it, i wont use it now
this was my first time on a quad a tbh its like getting an r1 as a first bike, but if your sensible then you 'should' be ok, but i would strongly advise against it

The 250cc are quick, I can imagine the 500. Well for me the 250 is enough. Hopefully the insurance won't be sky high.

I had a 250 road legal quad and insurance was about £200 for the year and the condition was that it was kept in a brick building with a ground anchor
oh and i wouldnt fancy riding one for 50 miles
couple of miles on the road was enough for me and be careful on roadabouts

Yeah I was told on taking roundabouts easy.
What I forgot to say in this thread is that our roads are surely not the best so I would almost be "off-road" all the time

Update: Sent an email to a bike importer (not official yamaha importer) regarding this quad and he replied that this bike is not road legal. Before sending this email I rang up two insurance companies and both replied with quotes and nobody told be about not driving it on the road. They both responded with 3rd party cover only because that is the system they said.
Has anybody heard that the raptor 250 is not road legal? It does not have mirrors ok but none of the yamahas seem to have them. Does this make them not road legal?
He also said they got the Hyosung TE450 which is 450cc and seems to have the same shape as the Raptor 250. Just front and back lights, no mirrors, off-road tyres. What the heck does this make it road legal then?
I don't want the latter for various reasons
1) 450cc is too much for me
2) Insurance will be higher
3) Prefer a brand such as Yamaha, Honda & Suzuki.
