Anyone ever suffered from this? I was diagnosed the other day, its nothing but torture, everytime I swallow food feels like im being thumped in the chest. Just wondered if anyone else has had any experiences of it? In short its an inflammation of the oesophogas caused by stomach acids being sent back up the oesphogas, im on a course of anti acidic tablets aswell as peptac to be taken after meals. I dont like being ill.

No I had something very minor were my throat lining would often feel a burning sensation after a meal. I just had to lay off the spicy food for a bit and it went and hasn't come back. Pleased because I really like spicy and hot food. I feel for you m8 as I'd hate to have a worse case and it happening with all food types.

I love spicy food and eat alot, but have been told it irritates the problem especially. It was when I was out with my girlfriend and family eating a very hot chilli con carne it came on! Might also be related to the amount I drink being at uni. Ive been advised to come off both alcoholic and fizzy drinks in relation to any earlier muscular problem, and now spicy foods aswell

dude, that sucks.
I once had a swollen Epiglotamus (sp) which was pretty gay, because i kept trying to swallow it. bastard thing wouldn't go up or down. made breathing pretty tricky.

The treatment is near enough the same as for indigestion. Apparently its oesophagus reflux which is when a gland at the bottom of the oesophagus doesnt close properly and stomach acids pass back up into your throat and cause it to swell up. Ive been doing my homework. Worrying to read that it could be up to months before I see improvement. Im getting so hungry and really want to enjoy meals but its just agonising. Hope you get better soon Jambo.
