Im gona get my dad to take out a policy, protect his 22 years no claims, then add me as named driver. this then brings my insurance down on a 1.6 16v megane coupe to £762 AND i live in northern ireland. i will keep doing this for two years then use my named driver discount to reduce my insurance when im 19. bearing in mind it would have been £1562 this is a considerable saving.

Yes

And even with his no claims protected, both of you would have to declare any crash on any policy you had.

DAM, DAM, DAM, DAM, DAM.

Although ive just went online and looked at a quote and it has went up to £904 without taking advantage of his no claims bonus.
What would happen to his premium the following year if i was to have an accident? Would it go up considerably even though he did not cause the crash?

It may not go up considerably or at all but it would still need to be declared.
