Hi all,
I'm currently on Epilim tablets, and i'm seeing the specialist soon to get weaned off them, so I was wondering if anybody could find out how long it would take to get weaned off them, if at all? Because I've been searching for the last 20mins and I can't find anything, but TBH i'm crap at searching for things on the internets
Thankyou.

it's not addictive in the slightest, i'm on 1000mg's a day, and i'm always forgetting to take them
They wont but me onto another tablet, they'll just take me off these completly.

Yer 1000mg/1g to 2000mg/2g of epilim/sodium valproate is the standard maintaince dose of the drug depending on your weight. I am assuming you are not epileptic and are just taking the drug in relation to your accident.
As you said its not addictive but is reduced gradually to see if any of the effects that it is been given to stop come back at all. The rate at which it will be reduced will be patient specific as everyone varies. Will be down to your doctor.
When the treatment is started it is gradually increased every 3 days so it is possible that it can be reduced in the same manner but again your doctor/hospital consultant will be the person that decides this.
Are you on normal epilim or chrono (sustained release)
This site sometimes gets used as a resource at work and maybe of help to you. Contains all the patient information leaflets (PILS) and the spc documents for the drug

Wont they reduce the dosage of it, and how frequently you take it?

the frequency will stay the same due to how long the drug stays in the system but the doses will get smaller

Just the dosage I would of thought. I'm on x2 200mg twice a day (two in the morning and two at night) I assume they will just reduce me onto one in the morning and one at night, then just one in the morining and so on.

reduce one tablet at a time mate i would think, thats what they did with me. I was on 2 morning and night and reduced to 2 and 1 for a week, 1 and 1 for a week and so on. I was on crono, slow release so had to take time doing it and had to have blood tests regular to see the exact dosage still in my system.
