My Dads Astra Cab has the same thing but his is key start. I always thought it was something to do with the sensors checking they are good before you move.

It's so your kids can't lean forward from the back seat and start the engine.

Like 225s, think the new ones have black on light blue LCD displays in the instruments, looks very cool.
