what does everyone think to these? seen a 1.8 gl, never gonna light up the world with its performance but its hardly slow either.
its at £1495 at a dealer on a p reg with 80k miles but its spotless, doesnt look 11 years old at all!

You could pick up a decent VR6 for that, with leather and A/C, so I wouldn't be paying that for a 1.8 GL

Use to have a 1.4 mk3. and it was slow, but very reliable! sold it on 150k and i'd done about 40k in a year, only thing that went wrong was the water pump

Wouldnt pay 1495 for a 1.8 though, try and get them down or get a colour concept or similar if you can afford it

I picked up a 1994 1.8 GL for my sister the other week with 112K on for £220, had a few marks on but spent another £100 and its looking really nice. The one you looked at seems way over priced

Don't bother with the 1.8, might as well get a 2.0 8v GTI as stated above.
