Hi
I've just bought a car, and it has some tax left on it, what do I need to declare it SORN? Can I get money back for the tax it has remaining? I'm not 100% sure about what to do. I've signed the V5 and that has been sent off, can I still cash in the tax or does it have to be done by the person who owned it before me?

Do it on the DVLA website and you don't need anything.

You don't need a form, do it online, top one under that 'Ways to make a SORN' list.

joking mate - i was implying that you were taking the money from the tax which someone else had paid for.
In real terms: you bought the car so its acctually your money now.
