if its a 2.0 in a corsa, just put a cat of any other engine size corsa for the emissions. as long as the exhaust you are using is standard size of course

Yes it's an offence not to declare any known changes to the dvla but if your car is a 1.0l on the logbook but insured as a 2.0l explain to me how your insurance is void??? It isnt as your insured for the conversion.
Yes DVLA would do you for car tax evasion if you were to be caught but your insurance is still valid mate no matter what the log book says.

I'd have thought everything would have had to match up with each other for everything to be valid.
When my car was recently written off I had to "surrender" all vehicle and insurance documents.
Surely if, what your saying is true, when they come to see that the engineer inspection notices it is in fact a 2.0, insurance says its a 2.0 but DVLA think its still a 1.4/1.6 then this will make your insurance invalid?
If your going to insure it as a 2.0 whats the hardship in telling the DVLA (other than tax increase)
I suspect "some" people don't tell the DVLA or their insurance companies.
This is why I was saying there is no point.

Yes im sure your insurance is valid provided the engine is declared to the insurer.
Problems might arise when trying to tax the car if the little old lady in the postie notices the 997cc on the log book and 1997cc on the insurance document.
The DVLA arent linked to the insurance database when the engine capacity is changed though as you'll find that even if a car has a declared 2.0 engine, it will still show as its origional engine size when doing an insurance quote (try it)

I'm still not convinced after reading your edit
If you phone up Insurance X with your numberplate, where do they get the details when they punch it into the system?
If the police stop you, they have a car database as well as the insurance database.
Surely one of these is linked to the DVLA

My insurance is perfectly valid thank you, The worst they could have on me would have been skimping on road tax but that was a better deal than having to drive it with no tax while I waited for my log book to come back.

You can use the V5/2 to take the vehicle for up to 2 months

I might have been able to but I dont know what the DVLA would have said if i sent the V% back to change something and the green slip wasnt there. Had a right ball ache taxing it when I bought it because I had to send the green slip to prove it was now mine. Of course I didnt get a reminder so i couldnt tax it. They expected me to stop driving until the car was registered in my name because of their fuck up

I taxed mine last week - got told to wait 6 weeks before chasing it up
IF I go over the 6 week mark I have to pay for a new log book

engine size dose not come into the MOT test what so ever as long as when i put the probe up the exhaust it fall's below 0.02 % CO vol and the lambda and HC/PPM are all with in spec i dont care whats fitted there is a set level set by the govenment that my emission tester has to comply with. If you bring me documets stating that your engine is from a pre 1st of august 1992 vehicle the a non cat test will be carried out and an avice notice issued sayin that the car is fitted with a different engine and that a non cat test has been carreied out
