You need bonnet pins, and the rest depends on the quality of the bonnet.

Yes, it's a definate... Unless you want it to pop open at 70mph on the motorway.

i have a full fibreglass bonnet and have moulded original fitments back on it done more than 70 and it stayed down no problems(on private property of course)

Why don't you try doing 70mph on the public highway some time, you are allowed.

The material isn't rigid enough to be able to trust the standard catch. It flexes a lot and it can pop open. And it's not like thats not a big deal over. I wouldn't risk it popping open and obscuring my view of the road ahead, smashing the windscreen and causing a crash. It's a known thing that happens and no sane person would use a carbon or fibreglass bonnet without pins.

some bonnet pins are actually quite good, like the iones I used recently, click the link in my sig, pics in the last few pages somewhere.
