Applied for a job way way back as I was selling 3-4 cars a month and felt I'd be better off doing it on a professional level

Now I had an interview with the owner of my local Arnold Clark, and they assured me I was just what they were looking for, but they had advertised for people to come on board after a Showroom re-fit

Now they have been in touch the showroom re-fit is nearly complete and they want another interview, so I had a look about local job sites, and Skoda are also looking (I'd rather work for Skoda than Arnold Clark tbh)

So any info from anyone who works in car sales as to what they do day to day and what they earn, would be good

I know its always different, But I'm away to write a letter applying for the job at Skoda

Cheers

Go for both, as you might get neither

Earning potential is very different depending on your level and where you work. Expect shit hours and a shit basic wage if your going in at lowest sales assistant level. My mate is pretty high up at stoneacre in wrexham and he works 6 days out of 7 and does 8am til 7pm during those days.

I work for Arnold Clark as a Salesman.. Been doing it about 7 months.

Pay is as good as you make it.. One month you can earn 4k and the next 1.5k..

Its a good job if you dont mind working long hours and most weekends. Theres not many jobs out there that you can earn as much as we do for as little work.

And "Tom" cars arent free, the tax mn bends you over sideways for it. My demo works out at costing me about £200 a month but it means I have no fuel bills, tax, repairs, mot or basically anything..

Cubie did you not start as a trainee salesman? How/where did you find the job advertised? Been trying to find a similar opportunity for a while now.

The cars are NOT free. You pay for them through your tax...

Wilson yeh I started as a trainee, saw the job on s1jobs. After 3 weeks I was allowed to start selling but I was classed as a trainee for 3 months. Now I'm on the same £680 basic as everyone else and have to really work for my money.. Theres 11 of us just now so theres a hell of a lot of competition..

I have done cars sales for 5 years now.
Slightly different though as I work in fleet sales, covering all manufacturers.

Moved away from sales now, and work in the operational side of the business setting future values and maintenance budgets. There is more money in the long term in op's.

I change my car almosty weekly. Anything from Hyundai i30's to Audi TT's, to A8's etc.. very varied. I also go on loads of hospitality events and car launches. I am going to the new EvoX launch in 2 weeks.
