Hope someone here can help  now i know you can't go playing around modifying new cars without invalidating warranty, but do different dealers have different stipulations. Thing is i wanna get some new alloys for my swift and was having a discussion with my mate the other night and i said. "if i get a new set of alloys that are exactly the same dimensions as my current alloys would this invalidate my warranty" he said yes. Is this true, as in theory the only thing that will have changed is the look of the wheels, dimensions etc. would be the same as factory? any help appreciated

They still won't like it, but some dealers are more slack than others.

why not keep the standard wheels and if you need to use the warrenty then swap them back over?

Most dealers I've dealt with aren't bothered. It only usually affects the part you are replacings warranty. For instance you change the wheels but take the car in for battery/charging problems. Then the wheels have no effect on this part and it should be ignored. However you upgrade your battery for your ICE etc then have charging/alternator problems or starting issues then the change may come into play.

different alloys wont void the warranty, but if the wheels were bigger with lower profile tyres they could say it caused ur suspension to wear out quicker. Basically, it would only void your chassis warranty, the engine and bodywork warranty will still be valid.

This is what i thought, hence the reason for getting wheels of the same dimensions, i'll have to give them a ring on my lunch and find out

Thats what I thought, if a part breaks through having a modified part or it causes a problem with something else it won't get sorted for nothing.
