Just bought a corsa off ebay and found out it's an insurance write off (not going to purchase it now) from doing a HPI check, but just curious if the seller (whether it be a private sale/trade or ebay/auctions etc) have to tell the buyer that it's an insurance write off?

CAT D is just a scratch or vandal damage 9 times out of 10.

Still knocks the value of the car down tho. Why not phone him and ask what happened. This also gives you an excuse to haggle.

agree with john, Cat D on a corsa b would be something very minor more than likely.

if it has a VIC then it should be fine, but the price should reflect this.

Not sure on the law on disclosing up front but if asked they should answer correctly.

If you are asked you have to declare it.

But you do not need to disclose it in the advert.
