Tyres on the front starting to get a bit low. Really under financial pressure due to being at Uni, any suggestions? 195's not bothered about profile, lower the better mind.

well road tax is due end of this month. just within reason Eck. I have a job aswell so I can afford to go into the red cos I'll earn it back

I got a pair of 195/60/15s for my Merc. They were about 84 quid fitted AND they were Dunlops.

some reasonable prices on there last time I checked. cant remember what size I need now without going outside I know its 195/50/15s, but maybe I could drop the profile?

Your local halfords store can order in 195/50R15 Yoko Parada's for about £40. Well my store can anyways...so check them!

kumho ku31 are the best value for money.
actually better than the more expensive BF goodrich profiler 2 in many respects. Especially wet braking.

i cant recommend UniRoyal RainSports enough and i am sure other will agree their great tyres
i pick mine up, 195/45/15s for let than £40 a corner

that sounds pretty good. is it worth me just swapping the fronts to the back and buying a set of 4 when they've had it?

yeh i did think about suggesting your swap front to rear (i do it every 6 months) but then re read and you sed fronts are bit low so werent sure how much you have left on them.
i would swap if you could. i got mine from Britania tyres iirc
all i did was a yell.com search for tyre fitters in my area then asked for quotes on GY Eagle F1 and UR Rainsports in my desired size. No one had the GoodYears  and so went for Britania as they were the cheapest (did have to wait a week to have them ordered in thou - but whats a week?)

im estimating around 3-4mm on the fronts and a good fair bit on the backs. so might swap em, is it worth getting them rebalanced?

if they were balanced when fit (a must) then no real point imo.
unless you feel wobnle, vibration through the wheel no point what so ever
less than 3mm is legal to 1.6 but AA and other big name motoring advisers say that braking effect is reduced by 50% below 3mm. however if these are on the back they do v little brakin in comparison so i say get it done!

sorted. just changed it now, feels slightly different. will have to get it up to 60/70 to see if I need them rebalancing if I remember correctly?

Yes I have these tyres and they are amazing!!
Brittania at derby did mine 39.99 a tyre fitted n balanced i think

Actually, as the tyre wears, the heavy spot can 'move' around the tyre, so in some cases, rebalancing them after x amount of miles would be beneficial.
Any place which doesn't balance them when the tyres are fitted is run by Butch Cassidy and friends.
