Right,
Stavs has pointed me in ur direction as im getting no help on corsa-c
I have a 1.8 corsa, and im having a slight problem with it, when you boot it you get a bit a white smoke out of the exhaust, and it is going through a fair amount of oil, it was going through a hell of a lot (about a litre 2 every 3 tanks of fuel!) and now its calmed down alot and dont seem to be putting as much in!, now i do have some mods, including air filter, full exhaust including manifold, and a remap,
Now the problem i have norrowed down to 2 or 3 things from different conversations with different people,
1. Valve Stem Seals
2. Valve Guides
3. Piston Rings
Now iv had a compression test done and he was confident it wasnt the rings, but after speaking to my mechanic friend today, he said that it could be wrong as it could be worn right across all 4 pistons, meaning the test would read correct and no loss of pressure? and that the guy that does all the work on the engines in his garage says that the stem seals and guides rarely go on these engines and he rekons it will be the rings!
Now when i spoke to another reputable garage he says that the 1.8 engines are prone to the guides breaking and its usually them! and that it would be blue smoke out of the back if it was the rings
Then another person i have spoke to says that 99% of the time if its white smoke out the back its either the head gasket or seals! and that it will more than likely be the remap as its probably overfueling slightly
Now its going for its MOT on saturday, and iv been quoted £230 to do the head gasket, seals and guides, and i am planning on spending £2k at regal getting an inlet manifold and cams and pullets and another remap done on it, what do you guys rekon it is?
Now having the rings done is like £500-£1000! it would be cheaper to get a new engine at like £400 and to be honest i cant be arsed with the hassle, id rather split it and flog it (trade it in and deny all knowledge of the problem )
i have three options
1. MOT and sell it and buy a cheap derv(dont want to do that as i love it! but its the most cost effective!)
2. MOT and Try fixing the head gasket etc. see if that fixes it if it doesnt sell it and move on.
3. MOT it, fix it, and spend 2k at regal, and just hope that it sorts it out and that its not the piston rings
Sorry for the essay
and some please help me out!

First thing is to get the map back to standard so you can rule that out, total cost nothing.
Whoever does this job should be able to save the modded image so you can still put that back on at a later date.
I had similar symptoms on a C16XE, was a dislodged valve stem seal.
If you're not down on power I would rule out HG although you'll get one anyway if you do the seals and guides.
Whatever you do, don't spend money on mods until this is fixed.

Cheers for the advice, my only problem is that the guy who did the remap is in birmingham
also wont that make it worse if i have the full system and filter on it?
iv been quoted £230 to do the head gasket and seals and that, so i duno wether or not just to get that done, and then see from there?

No stem seal will smoke whenever there is oil present, mine did it cold or warm, a lot moreso on load. ie. boot it, you would get a puff.

as I said on Corsa-c, get a real compression test done i.e a leakdown compression test. It will show where the leakage is rather than just telling you there is a leakage.
