heres what i have so far:
Dear Sir/Madam,
Please read this email and pass it onto the appropriate person.
I am writing this email as the concerned associate of one of your employees at Miller Homes. It has just been brought to my attention during an internet based discussion about collections for co-workers, that in your Glasgow office there is a collection running currently for a certain employees “wedding”. Whilst I can appreciate that a wedding is a joyous occasion and should be celebrated accordingly, I have some concerns regarding the following:
1. The excessive amount of money that your employees are being urged to put forth for this particular “wedding”.
2. The general appropriateness of this “wedding” and your apparent support of the persons involved.
To address my first point; do you really think that it is fair to suggest a specific amount that your employees should contribute for a coworkers collection? I certainly do not think this is acceptable.
To quote the bible:
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
II Corinthians 9:7
This short passage more than sums up God’s views on donations. Therefore I urge you to consider this for future collections. It is unacceptable to request £30 from each employee.
Now for my second point; I am sure you are wondering why I refer to this “wedding” using quotation marks, the reasoning behind this is as follows…This particular “wedding” is not a wedding at all. It is merely a farcical event that goes completely against the sanctity of marriage. Whilst I am not a homophobe I am certainly a religious man and appreciate what marriage means. This event is and should always be referred to as a civil partnership. I hardly think that, by collecting £1800 from your employees by means of a forced donation, you are doing anything to save the traditional meaning of marriage. You are merely allowing the gays to feel ever more accepted in this already troubled present in which we live.
Yours sincerely
feels free to change bits if you like.
