i've seen better.
Sorry Spielberg.
i still voted, as that's how loyal I am to my fellow cs'ers! Just something was lacking with the execution of how the movie was made. Whether the execution, or atmospheric or editing... Like obviously it was all about the fact that the kids are running around the area where once wars were fought. But I think more should've been made on the sacrifice that was made, to give these kids the freedom to run around the woods / fields.
the closing scene showing cross over's perhaps (i.e. a short glimpse of both being in the same reality) and then the slight horror (on realisation) on returning to normal present day. (obviously done in a arty and very quick and subtle way).
it was cut down a hell of alot to be able to enter it

Yeh you get that impression watching it. To be fair, I think the effort you went through compared to most of these short films is A LOT! You essentially filmed 2 seperate movies and interwinded them
Other people's comments kinda reflect my initial impression tho ...

Just CS is full of arse lickers. It's a good movie and making ANYthing that'll fit in a 1 minute film is bloody hard, as it's got to tell a whole story, introduce characters and have a point, in literally no time at all!
It's a good film / job mate! Just not sure if it'll be able to win that bafta competition, as it's just lacking something.

a lot of those 'short listed' films are quite unoriginal for a film based around being 'united'. All just 'couples' getting back together.
I think what would of been good under the theme of 'united' is to take some object that's nothing special (such as a piece of rubbish), and personify it...
like 2 cartons of milk in a fridge... Film starts showing the front of the fridge. Fridge opens showing 2 cartoons of milk sitting next to each other in the fridge... You film it in a way that personifies them that makes them look like they are in love and alive (but obviously not moving them about like puppets lol), perhaps as one gets taken out to pour some milk onto some cerial, show the dispair on the other (however you could do that lol), finally show the human finally finish 1 carton of milk and chuck it in the bin... then watch the trash be taken by the bin men.
The other carton is showing true dispair... in a 'my lifes not worth living without her (the other carton)' way... then finally it also is emptied and chucked in the bin... you watch the bag be chucked into the dustbin truck, then do a quick follow to the land fill... Then finally when tipped out, the two are reunited in the heap of rubbish.
However, the twist is, just as they're reunited, they're both put onto the conveyer belt to be minced up and packed for land fill, or melted down for recycling or something like that.
and film ends.
Something like that anyway. Basically personifying essentially every day items that have no real emotions and creating this story of love between them, allowing them to be reunited, just before the end of both their lives. Obviously would have to be filmed rather well and would probably require music to set the mood / emotions in the different scenes.

To be fair, I've just watched all the entries on the 'shortlist'
your one scoob definately falls into the top 1/3rd of the lot. You have at least got an original idea and take on it all.
Some of the one's on there are A ) predictable, B ) boring C ) un original D ) not related to 'unite' and E ) just shit.
