Probably said, but buy it, ride it to work until it dies.
Bugger all tax, bugger all fuel. Get the driverbelt changed (need an airgun), new plug, and run some good oil through it.
Scooters suck ass, and you get no respect on the road (this is road respect, not homie posse i iz cool res-pect), but, they are so simple and easy its untrue.
Bung some bike clothing on, bash hat etc. Jump on, let warm up for 2-3 min, off you go to work.
You'll find its FAR cheaper than a car, but if your young, you may find the insurance quite high still.

id say no...mopeds are dangerous...not to sound like the mature one but chances are ure fall off or get knocked off. My old mans had bikes since i was a nipper and has had a fair few accidents...his a mature, sensible rider/driver and u cant account for things like diesel patches and such like...his shoulders took like 7/8 years to get back to normal after he did it in...if ure set on it be prepared for car doors, cars cutting u out of riding down the middle of them...PEOPLE DONT SEE YOU! and such likes! sorry if im sounding like a twat but think about it!

It wouldn't. REquires more rebuilds, constent gear changes, burns more oil (not cheap). For work, a scooter is much much easier, simpler to ride, cheaper to run.
Also, find me a semi decent running RS for £150. You want a 125 minimum.

rebuilding the engine every day before work lol...
My mates done 12000 miles from new on his and hasnt had an engine rebuild, I had an RS125 and it had 15000 on it and still on the same engine. How can you slag off a decent bike and praise scooters in the same thread

Sorry, did you just call an RS50 a decent bike??
You guys sound lucky, but yes the RS50 and RS125 are highly renowned for having the pants thrashed out of them and being buggered. Most people cut corners on the RB hence needing them again and again. Most 125's are owned by learners too which generally tend to be flat out straightliners.
We're not praising scooters, we're saying for a work hack, a scooter is better, and for £150 its a good cheap idea....
This thread hasn't mentioned one proper decent bike yet

For a learner an RS50 is a decent bike, my mate hasn't had any trouble with his cause hes looked after it, id much prefer one over a scooter, although I wouldn't have either of them. I haven't said it was a proper decent bike, as this thread only concerns learner types

i think for 150 quid it would be worth keeping it for a bit prehaps
what is it to feel up one of these a fiver isnt it and it last's like all week 20 quid would last me like half a week
15 quid road tax, repair a tyre and the belt is slipping a bit thats all it need's
i dare say i could find a 16 year old to buy it off me when am done for a good price, ill jus keep on quoteing its top speed lol

RS50 & 125 a decent bike? Sod doing gear changes every 2 seconds and sounding even worse then scooters.
I had a Neos 50 and that thing was so slow, did 40 even after being de-restricted But you can't fault £30 tax for the year, £5 of fuel lasting me a whole week, never needed fixed. God it makes me almost miss it.

my scooter used to wind people up the exhaust kept on falling off so i jus went round with no exhaust made little kiddies scream in fear! haha! (evil laugh)
but it topped out at 40 coz of no back pressure or something like that due to no exhaust lol..
i thought it was 15 quid tax a year? could be wrong though

I quite enjoy having mine. Cost £650 brand new as a chinese import. It quite happily sits at 45 all the way to work, struggles a bit going up hills but still does 30. The only thing with it is the battery needs charging every few weeks. Plus it's a four stroke so doesn't sound so much like a lawnmower.
