Alright folks,

Decided its about time I start saving for a house, so that means my Lupo GTi has to go for something a bit less harsh on the old wallet, and spotted a nice Corsa C, 1.4 SRi earlier today for sale which would suit the bill perfectly, so just after a bit of info really if anyone has got/had one?

One im looking at is the one that came with the 16" Alloys, Spoiler etc. I had a 1.2 SXi Corsa C before the Lupo so I know there decently built cars, and nice to drive, im more after running costs, insurance, performance.

Anyone that can help, it would be appreciated

I'd say they'd be plenty quick enough, and the 1.4 is about £100 more on insurance, than by B 12v, so will be good

May be consider a 1.3CDTI SXi+ though. £35 tax per year, excellent fuel economy if you're doing miles. And iirc, it has slightly less BHP, but more torque

Just looked on Parkers as I was curious. 1.4 SRi is 92 lb-ft of torque, 1.3 CDTi is 125

SXi+ gets leather and other such lovely bits as well

Depends how much you've got to spend - cheapest 1.3 SXi+ on autotrader is £6k, 1.4 SRi can be had for less than half that.

1.4 will be quicker too. Think the official performance figures (0-60, mpg, top speed) are much the same as the 1.2, but more torque will help in-gear times.

Don't think there's much difference between the 1.2 and 1.4 insurance either - certainly if you are over 20.

I had a 2003 52 plate 1.4 SRi. Was a good little car, but was pretty heavy on fuel IMO - got anywhere between 32-39mpg, ranging between sat in M6 traffic, and cruising on A roads for long distances at about 50-60mph. I'd imagine your Lupo will be better on fuel because of the 6 gears (So i'm led to believe), and slightly lighter.

I can't see where there will be any significant cost savings in changing To be honest?

You ever drove the 1.3 cdti though with 4 people in the car! Put your foot down and its like the throttle isnt connected to the engine. Dont give a toss if it has more torque, the 1.4 does actually make a slight movement when you put your foot down at national limit!

1.3 cdto gets good gains from a tuning box, only 100 quid and takes 2 minutes to take on and off.

1.3 is a good little engine, won't be breaking any speed records but neither will the 1.4.
