I'm doing quite a lot of miles to get to work and back each day, and i'm spending around £350 per month.
On my interview they've said that I would recieve the petrol back and to keep reciepts. Which I have done.
I've just flicked through my contract and it doesn't mention anything about mileage and cost.
I wouldn't be bothered if it was about £100 per month, but it is a fair chunk.
Just wondering how I should approach the subject in work? I'm tempted to just ask them straight, then they're put on the spot and will have to give me a straight answer?
Nobody else is getting petrol money, but a lot of people travel from where I live too, so they're wondering the same like me.

Can only ask can't you.
Go in there with an accurate estimate of mileage (such as your own record) and see what they say - shouldn't be able to disput it....

As said, you usually only able to claim milage allowance whilst traveling during your contracted hours. Travel to and from work is outside these hours. Go and have a casual chat with finance and see what they say, as they may have meant if you have to travel for business purposes

Unless its during business hours for business related work I cant see them paying for you to commute.
As you say it is not stated in your contract.

Are you all a bit simple round where you live then?
Lots of people living in the same area doing alot of miles to get to and from the same place of work, yet none of you have thought about sharing lifts?!?

Only £20!?! Bit harsh considering it's costing you £80+ a week in petrol, plus wear and tear on your car
