Hi all,
Would like to be doing either an XE or LET conversion but out of interest what is the petrol consumption like for them??

My XE did nearly 100 miles to a tenner. That was taking it easy.
Booting it you'd use a tenner in no time.

my xe on carbs does about 40 miles to a tenner my mates standard xe i sold him did about 70 miles max to a tenner, remember what the price of fuel is like now.

whats a cold day got to do with it, your auto chokes on in cold weather using evan more fuel, il believe it when i see it, i carnt get nowhere near that on a long run at 50 mph in 6th in my old let or 50mph in 5th in my old xe and thats when fuel was cheaper, unless you did it about 6 years ago when petrol was about 70p!

i believe you can get 100 miles to a tenner in a 2.0 xe, depends how you use your right foot..

when mines was showing 40litres on the gauger i got over 400 miles with a mix and match of driving

Ummm... I used to get 400 miles to a full tank in my 1.2 - that was £47 odd quid at 95ppl

bigger engine pulling lighter car wont have to work as hard so is possible to get good mpg out xe's or lets

ive had 350miles out of a fuel tank on motorways etc and 140 around town or thrashing it

denser air an thus more fuel will be supplied so it doesnt run lean
If your asking about fuel consumption on a xe/let then your getting one / have one for the wrong reason.

Nah it just curiosity as i wanna know as much as i can about the XE conversions in's and out's before i go ahead with one to be honest.
Cause i can see it both ways because:-
I can see how it would be fairly good because it's a powerful engine pulling a lighter chassis so it's not working hard.
But i can see it using alot of petrol as it's a 2.0 basically lol
So not worried as such about petrol etc just out of curiosity would like to know from the current/past XE owners what it is like

If you treat the LET right then you can get very good MPG, on the motorway its not much different to my gsi, the F28 helps also
But you have to ask whats the point in having one of these engines if you are going to drive like that? on a long road trip an XE or LET wont be too bad but the fun of driving them means you wont be seeing the best MPG the car can give
