Failure to relicense vehichle.
According to our records you were the registered keeper of this above vehicle, the vehicle did not have a valid vehicle excise license (tax disc) or SORN in force from 1.11.07 . this is an offence.
I bought the car a few days before this date and drove it to my house, then i took it to my work to fix the few problems so i could MOT it.
It took like 2/3 weeks for the Log book to come through but i didnt recieve a reminder to tax or SORN it?
I MOT an Taxed it yeterday on the 11.01.08, i then got home to find this letter.
Says i got to pay a £80 fine or £40 if i pay early, PLUS £30 arrears fee.
Is there anything i can do about this as i intended to MOT it before but i had problems, had to wait for bits ETC?

say you didn't recieve a letter?
can't see much being done about it though.

ring them up and tell them u couldnt register it sorn because u were waiting for the V5

but i didnt want to tax it on the day it ran out because it wasnt road legal?

But i have Taxed it, just not straight away, and how do you declare SORN without the reminder?
Should they have sent me a reminder?

iv just paid my 40 quid fine for tell them that it had been scrapped late as it ran out of its sorn, they told me i had to pay by the 5.1.08 or it will go up to 80, forgot as i couldnt find the letter and had sent the log book off sayin scrapped and couldnt think of the reg number, found it on monday called them up, and they said they will still accept 40??? i was like waaa
