Hi does anyone have any information on running a corsa diesel on straight vegetable oil
My understanding is that it is possible to run it on veg oil with no other modifications/conversions (just pour it in the tank) as long as it is fitted with a Bosch rotary fuel pump
Has anyone tried this or is currently running there corsa diesel on veg oil
I would be grateful for any info
Regards Jim

It's fine if it's the old mechanical diesel engine.
I don't know how you'd go about paying the fuel duty, though.

Hi as from june 2007 everyone has an allowance of 2500 litres of veg oil annually before it needs to be declared
So it is possible without any mods just put it in
it is a 1999 corsa with the 1.7 isuzi diesel engine with a bosch mechanical fuel pump

I wouldnt, i would still use £10's worth of diesel every tank. The veg oil goes thick when cold and solid to start.

Make sure you change your fuel filter before you do it aswell because it will get clogged up! And plugs - they need to be tip tpo.

I think in summer, it would run, but now, dont bother it will be like sludge.

Start with a strong mixture of diesel/veg. Eg 80/20. The work your way down untill you start having problems - not pulling well, not starting etc

Is it not possible to get round the thick veg oil by fitting a heat exchanger before the fuel enters the fuel filter

In winter it's better to run with more derv, so say 3/4s of tank derv, working towards 60/40 or 50/50 in the summer.

imo
