Rubbish, I know loads of people with the cheaper ones that have lasted ages so far. I bought the dearer ones at £120 and 2 ballasts went tits up before I even got a chance to use them as did one of the replacements they sent. Its just your luck that they last.

The ones i've just bought come with a full 2 year warranty

I've had 3 cheap ebay kits (on different cars) and only 1 kit needed a new ballast, which was sent out next day delivery under the 18 month warranty.

Go on ebay and search for diane-shop, she is the cheapest on there (or was 2 months ago.)

If you want nice looking, go for 6000k, White with a tingle of blue. If you want maximum light output on the road, go for 4300k.

Diane-shop kits are great, excellent service and loads of people have had no probs with them up to and so far 10+ months later. I wouldn't pay anymore than £40 a set now
