Anything will be able to tow anything in terms of moving, but still being realistic.

Issues arise with the length of things can tow like caravans etc. A double axle vehicle trailer would be fine I should imagine. Check the BMW's handbook for towing weights etc.

Not that slow really, but compared to how quick it would normally go (which wasn't lightning anyway) noticably slower. It just takes alot longer to get to higher speeds and you should try to be as gentle as poss with your right foot as well.

worth checking your covered by insurance.
my Dad had trouble as his car insurance wouldnt let him pull a larger caravan cos of the weight ratio. i would at least look at the policy to see where you stand on towing....and yes braking will be an issue!

Best to check handbook, or look for a plate on the car, on my dad's Vectra, it was on the shut for the drivers door, IIRC towing weight was a little less than the car weight

edit, also remember speed limit is 50mph for towing too

yea something like long as vehicle being towed is no more than 80% the weight of the towing vehicle

anywho a 1.9 diesel 306 pulled a 2.0 corsa well round the m25

On a single carriageway with National speedlimit yes, but on a motorway or dual carriageway its 60 mph.

You also can't use the outside lane of a carriageway with 3 lanes each way or more

You passed your test after 1997, so you'll need to make sure car + trailer weight less than 750kg. Unless you've done the test, of course.

edit: the car on it, not the car towing it.
