Time perhaps to stop spending the money on Speed Cameras and carry out some safety features on A-Roads

i wrote to my local rag about it

2 lads in a 106 crashed into a car and killed the woman driving

on a windy b road,

it was front page news, the headline read..

"Calls for speed cameras on danger road"

i worte i letter explaining that the crash happened on a twisty road, and where would th proposed camera be put?

the straight bit of road leaving the town is the only place, but people would just slow down for the straight part and the camera, its not gonna make the poeple slow down on corners,

i recieved mixed replies, most of the letters against my views came from older people blaming the "boy racers" as usuall

so i replied AGAIN...

The point i got across was that i used the A9 a lot and there is speed cameras on it, i slow down for the cameras then speed up after, as most people do,

I see no benefit in a speed camera in the middle of nowhere on a straight bit of road. outside schools yes but not on A roads or straight bits as proposed by the council,

the lady killed was the sister of a councelor quite high up in my region and i dont think my views were met as they should have been

this was not me sticking up for 2lads i niether know or want to know,

i was expressing my views on the fact that cameras do not work,and should not be the first option in road safety
