Looking for a digital slf camera for my dad, currently he has a cannon eos 300, has loads of lenses for it etc, so would like a camera that uses these if possible to save some money...

The 40D is a cracking piece of kit for the money.

I have a 350D picked it up with standard lense, 1gb card, bag... and still waiting the tripod after nearly 6 weeks after payment.

I bought it off a member on here. He's disappeared of the face of the earth.

yeah any EF lens will fit an EOS camera digital or analogue. the only difference will be field of view is different on a 40D compared the the 300 e.g to get the same field of view of a 16-35mm les on eos 300 you'll need a 10-22mm lens on the 40D. this is down to the sensor of the 40D being 1.6x smaller than the size of 35mm film.

The field of view thing is actually pretty handy if you shoot wildlife as a 300mm becomes a 480mm.
