Needs to be decent spec model with a powerful graphics card for all the latest games other then that pretty basic.

Can get a Dell for £400 but you probably won't get until the new year.

I think PC World often has some good deals on HP gear. Though if you want a decent graphics card then you will need decent hardware to back it up which might make your price a bit optimistic.

Its for my sister and her BF.

She wants the internet and his wants online gaming, 360 or ps3 maybe.

In terms of games he told me mainy the strategy games where you build up armys.
counter strike source also, so kind of old I guess but still good graphics.

Can you haggle with places like pc world ect.

They have a few lappys within price range but the details are not all there.

Would they let me bring a game and test the graphics card there or is there a site i could do it on ?

could I get more for my money if it was a Pc as in tower ?
There tv has a Pc port.
cheers.

For gaming you'd get much more for your money than a laptop.

If the money's there I would get her a basic laptop and him a 360.

Just realised its for a xmas present so you probably won't be spending that much.

Best compromise would be a tower but it won't have earth shattering graphics.

Don't see why pc world wouldn't let you try tbh.

Not being funny you wont get a laptop with a decent graphics card for that money.

I've used a £500 Dell Vostro which had a Geforce 8400GS in it and it was absolute pants at CS:S... and thats a mid range card for a laptop. Most come with ATI Radeon Xpress 1150's or Intel GMA 950 graphics chipsets.
