In my class today at teh language school we were doing a discussion on famous people from our respective countries ancient history, and I was struggling to think of an example, so my teacher asked me about Beowulf. I had no idea what she was on about though, and i consider myself a fairly well read person, do all you lot already know the story? She seemed quite shocked that I had no idea what she was on about!

The Volsung Saga are also a pretty good old school stories.

One of my favorite authors melvin burgess has reworked them sort of to more modern day.

Bloodtide and Bloodsong. Both well worth a read.

i did beowulf in primary and secondary.

is just about the guy called beowulf slaying grendel some ugly fuck with a bad temper.

apparently grendel had a son or daughter and somewhere theres another story about that.

Beowulf was actually a poem when first written.
