Been without a car of my own for years for various reasons. Living back at mums now and could do with transport other than taxi's and borrowing my mums clio, mainly for visiting places around north west for work stuff (probably no more than 200 miles a week). Was goling to wait until early next year and either buy an e30 325is or a mk2 16v golf. I am starting to get a bit desperate though and will have around £1k at the end of the month. Should I buy something with that or try and wait and save another £1500 up to buy something better?

Need one that won't brake and will be a bit fun yet still look half way decent and not embarrasing to drive about it

Ideas?

Is there going to be that much difference between £1k and £1.5k? I wouldn't have thought so, both will have been run half way round the earth, I'd probably spend less personally.

Carlton's a bit too big and old.

s13's not keen tbh. Might be able to get a half decent 8v gti.

tds/ 320i e36 might be a shout

Get a Mk2 8v, you'll get an ok one for 1000£ nice wee cars to drive & piss easy to fix if anything goes wrong. Also not that much slower than a 16v.

Golf, Astra, 306.

Get the ECHO Tom, fair few local bargains in there. That's what i would do if i had a bump at the minute until the insurance paid out.
