I applied for a job a few months ago, a 15k video broadcasting/editing role. I was declined and ended up in a rubbish office job at 13k, I've been there for exactly 2 months now but the tv company has offered me the job!

Problem is that I'm moving to Barcelona in 10 weeks, I was just going to work there for 10 weeks and then leave.. whilst earning myself a couple hundred extra quid and gaining the experience. But, I found out today I need to give 4 weeks notice at my current job.

There's no point in accepting this other offer if I'm only going to be there for 5 or 6 weeks is there? Is there any way I can get out of the 4 week notice? I mentioned probationary period and they said that's for THEM, THEY can give me 1 week notice to leave.. but I have to give 4?

Basically, I'm gonna have to decline this job offer but I've already said yes and I don't know how to put it.

Dont take the job... if your leaving in 10 weeks stay with your current job. If you take this someone else will miss out on it, decline it now and let someone else get the job they want

But no one else has applied as far as I'm aware. Plus they will have the opportunity in a few months just as I did!

I'm stuck.. going to put it off til Monday and figure something out over the weekend.

I was told to give a weeks notice at my old job, I gave them 1 day & nothing happened. Just draft up a letter telling them your terminating your employment as of ....next week?.... and leave on that day!

IMO, theres no problem starting the other job if you know you're leaving. Even 10 weeks is a short time, just wasting their time starting TBH.

Unless they know you'll only stay for a short while?
