I used to own a MK4 1.6 SE, it was reasonably well refined in my opinion - it wasn't particularly powerful, but was alright for daily driving - although I was only getting 20mpg on mine so perhaps I was driving it a little bit hard!

The biggest annoyance about the car was the window regulators going at the most annoying times possible.

Very common fault that, on the polo's too, you can get a repair kit from dealers or you can work out an amateur bodge, with jubilee clips and self tappers

loose translation is Pump Duse, which relates to the way the injection system/engine works
