mk3 polo 1.3
last night while i was driving my oil temp light started flashing so i checked the level (smoke coming from the bonnet at this time as well) and topped it up slightly to the correct level. anyway it kept flashing so i took it home and when i was on the way to work it started flashing again and started losing power and smoke was coming from the bonnet. once i started moving again my car started beeping and my oil level light came on as well followed by my battery light so i had to pull into a laybay. I'm waiting on the recovery truck delivering it to work for me.
any ideas what it may be??
also on top of the rocker cover there is a small metal pipe not connected to anything, what is this because smoke was coming out of there.
help would be very much appreciated, Graeme.

crankcase ventilation pipe
This should be routed back to air inlet somewhere
These engines suffer from glogged up crankcase vents leading to high oil presurse. Thats all i can think of tbh

Headgasket will be easy on that engine, won't take long providing it doesn't need a skim
