Surely Andrew Gallacher can do a decent cage much closer though? His workmanship is good is it not?

I can kind of understand where the prices come from mate.
In the back of my corsa theres a good £750-1000 worth of tubing (inc welding gas and wire).
So your looking about £1500 for materials.
Your looking about your looking about a 24 hours of welding time, and a good welder is on £15 per hour = £360 welder time (TIG Welded).
Take a fabricator about 2 week to make a full cage give of take so and there on about the same as the welder per hour so there £1200 for his time
On that your looking around £3000 without the company making a profit.
I would of said the same if i had not of built my own. Off the shelf items companys can make 100's at a time so can keep cost down.

Adam - yeah, I do appreciated the amount of work/time needed to make it, and i can understand labour charges He said the gusset work alone come to 1200...
19 gussets in various shapes and sizes. 4 X's and triangulated front turrets onto 8 main fixing points, Then its tied into the body shell.
I hadnt added it up my head though, so wasnt ready for that amount
lil_g04 - well done

Colin - Its all going well learning to weld BUT it takes years of practice to be able to weld some of the joins which make a roll cage, I am a fully qualified welder (TIG and MIG) an i still had to make a mate help me out, upside down where you can not see where your welded can really test you.
Adam in that price where they cutting the roof skin off to weld over the top on joins towards the front of the car?
I will have a word with some of the lads who helped out mine and see if there game and what price.
