Knocked her kid off the balcony by accident/in a rage? Did herself in? I heard this on the news on way home from footy on monday night and thought instantly she must have had something to do with kids going over as she took off straight away.

I heard she'd been drinking prior to the fall.

maybe someone broke into the room, attacked / kid napped the mum. the kid tried to help and so the kidnapper pushed the kid off the edge and took the mum to the cave.

I don't believe this 'the mum tried to kill herself' - if she was gonna do that, she'd of jumped off straight after knocking the kid off the side!
