that deserves max respect, stunning outcome. anyone know the deal with the engine though? surely they didnt have 16v engines back then, is it just a newer engine with a few touches to fit in?

The engine is from the 60s Rob, Ford used the BDA in the Lotus Cortina, Escort RS1600 and Escort RS1800 in the 70s, then bolted a turbo to it and used it on the Zakspeed Capris and the RS200 in the 70s and 80s.
It's THE Ford engine, that crappy Cosworth badged thing doesn't come close
