What does everyone think of online designer clothes stores? Do you buy from them or prefer the safe option buy trying on before you buy? I'm doing some research at the moment as I'm thinking of opening my own onlines clothes boutique - something similar to brownbagclothing or baggamenswear.

Obviously the name of the game will be to provide quality labels at proper discount prices - something I don't think brown bag does very well, despite them harping on about great discount. I know there are a plethora of online 'designer' sites, although 95% are shite. Ideas? good? shite? etc?

Its easy enough to do aslong as you can find the decent brands cheap enough (not an easy thing to do!). Other than that aslong as you can keep onto of customer services and make sure you have the stock then your sorted.

ASOS.com is currently the best at this IMO.

Yeah I agree, never had a problem with asos. TBH money isn't an issue with regards to starting up, I would be able to offer a wide variety of all the decent brands - will obviously need to discuss accounts with these firms as I have no idea how much you would be required to put down up front.

With regards to mail order and customer service, I run a successful online designer furniture company so already have first hand experience of keeping people happy.

Yeah, knew you'd be upto scratch with the CS side of things

I think your best going to a general wholesaler who does a wide range of the brands, as not sure you'll get rights to sell them direct from the designers (probably have deals with places like ASOS already).

These are hard to find though, but contacting a few of the brands may well lead to a few contact details of them!

id always prefer to try something on before buying it, but when im buying something off tinternet i laways try and get the pit to pit measurement as this gives a proper indication of size which i think puts a lot of people off, as the size on the label can mean anything unless you have something by the same brand to go off, hope i make sense

I agree with this, really annoys me when I order the usual size and they are nowhere near what they should be

I found a site which tells you the size of the model wearing the item - i.e. 5'11, 34'' waist and 41'' chest, find this helps as your right, I have a Fat Face jacket which is Small, yet for Super Dry T shirts I'm XL I'd say I was medium to a small large usually!

I like the fact you don't have to go wandering round town and you can usually find what your looking for on the net.

Sizes are a big issue though, I buy stuff which does'nt fit properly and coz i'm a lazy twat it never gets worn or sent back.

What brands are you thinking of doing? Asos.com has got it nailed imo, great variety, decent stuff and all round good company.

I buy 99% of my clothes/trainers online.

Can get most things cheaper, and get them straight to your door.

Agree with what has already been said on the sizing issue. I'd try get a pit to pit, lenght, and pit to cuff/sleave messurment on everything you were selling.

Also decent/human models to show off the clothes being worn in the way its meant to be worn/correct size. Nothing worse than seeing something on a man-a-kin that doesnt fit or is being worn with totally the wrong style of other clothes as you cant get an overall idea of what it will look like with your other stuff, if you get what I mean

Yeah I agree Danny. Nothing worse than one of those dummy things with a t shirt plonked on it

Would have real life models and professional photography with an in depth size guide on each garment

I only buy my clothes in boutiques etc, although I would consider buying online.
I tend to know what sizes i am in different makes, although i have found that I can differ in sizes dependant on the style within the same brand.

I think its an area that could see massive potential. Repeat business is where its at online, as well as the site stocking the very latest clothes and not stuff that is a season old making it cheap anyway.

Armani, Boss, Fake, Versace would be a nice spread imo.
