Just went to my local vauxhall dealer and asked for a test drive in the vxr they had there.
And I have to say i was very impressed. I thought it was a really great drive.
It was a '57' plate, black sapphire, with the 18 inch V-spoke alloys.
I loved it to pieces so i'm off to look for a good deal on a loan!! Lol.
Any one else test driven one? Thoughts? Opinions on colour?

Never driven one but loved it on first impressions when I saw it at the preview evening.
Pop to Reanult this afternoon though, and have a look at the Clio's. People have been saying they are better cars for the money, especially the F1 R27

I'd have a second hand Mini or a brand new R27 F1.
Corsa would be nice and an every day car....but its nice...not wow IMO
For 16 i'd hedge my bets else where as a brand new R27 can be had for 14k
Btw I drove a fully specced up Spahire black one too was nice but just didnt inspire me.

I was dissapointed, just sudden bursts of power, not a thrilling drive at all. wouldnt buy one as I would be bored of it in no time.

Hmm maybe I need to take my vauxhall blinkers off and go look at some others. Possibly the clio.
Fad- what didn't inspire you about the car? Was it looks or power? Or something else?
Dont like the new mini to perfectly honest. I love the classic mini, new ones are just wrong imo.

It handled ok, went ok, looked ok but just didn't feel as planted as people raved on about. Steering bit light and the ride was a bit harsh for my liking.
I was well chuffed after the tet drive but got back into the GSi an preffered the Astra stright away.
My friend just picked up his r27 from the passenger seat it rides better than the Corsa seems to have a better chasis and if Tiff Nedel raved on about it surely its got to be a good car!
Also a lass from work leant me her mini for the day (a Cooper S) and I loved it, steering for an assisted car was really beefey and heavy...I quite liked it! It has a nice spec and was far more entertaining to drive in the sense of minimal roll, greatd feedback and feel and combined with good values makes a good buy.
At the mo if I were to buy a newer car from a value for money side i'd get a non F1 197, however for 14k an R27 certainly seems good value for money

If your thinking of getting one new go onto the renaultsport website some sales guys are knocking them out cheap with fairly decent specs.
If you fancy a Vaux check the Astra VXR can be had for same or even less money.
Best bet is drive a few cars for yourself as everyone has different opinions and its what you think that counts. No point asking on here though because all you will get is Imprezzas or Fabia VRs or Ibizas which imo are all overated

Cheers fad. I will be test driving lots before I decide. Out of the two I prefer the corsa vxr to the clio, (dont like the decals on it) lol.
Thought about the astra but I want something small. Beside by the time I decide to get a new car I'll probably be able to pick up a second hand corsa vxr??

I quite like the styling on them. And with a few trips to vpc it could go and look very well indeed.

i love mine to bits. the ride is fairlyhard, but i dont find it uncomfortable in the slightest. visibility when parking is a bit poor, but other than that i can fault it at all. the power delivery i find is pretty smooth, feels like amuch bigger engine than a 1.6
I paid under £15500 for mine, which admittedly is a lot of money, but I can afford it, so why not!

doesnt feel like it has that much go, nothing special power wise, even through the figure say it does, i think its too smooth power delivery, no burst of power
dont get me wrong its quick but nothing great to drive as in fun wise anyway, but look
