Got this email at work...

Unfortunately we have just been informed we are expecting more strike action commencing this Thursday 4th October, continuing through until Friday 19th October.

Please see attached for more information. This will lead to severe disruption in mail collection and delivery over this time.

Hope no one is expecting anything important

One I got at work...

We will have No services from Royal Mail from lunchtime on Thursday 4th October through to early hours of Wednesday 10th October 2007. This means there will be No Deliveries or Collections until Wednesday 10th October 2007.

There will be strike action from week commencing Monday 15th October, but these will be for services and I will notify you as soon as I am aware of this.

Think its still the same thing about post office becoming part of WHSmith. And jobs being lost because of it.

I employ a bloke who used to be a post man. He mentioned once that they got rid of a load of postmen, and expected the ones they kept to do a few extra rounds a day. Somin like that anyway.

oh, and they couldnt all the over time they were doing. I.E. would do an extra 3 hours and only be able to claim for 1 1/2 a day.

Striking over changes to the way they work! Making postal rounds bigger by removing a few rounds from Offices, which means job losses. Making delivery staff start an hour later, so your post comes an hour later! Also there is a huge pension deficit so there changing retirement age to 67! And these are just a few of the reasons!
