This is the dyno plot for a mk2 seat ibiza 2.0 8v
All i look at is max figgures but obviously there is more to it than that. Is it much better than say a corsa 1.6 16v? Dave might helpful on this one

think the torque and bhp are about the same as a 1.6 16v on a inlet and remap.
Maybe a bit more torque due to the bigger capacity.

The 2.0 seems to produce good torque over a much wider rev range compared to the 1.6.
Infact the 1.6 seems to only have a 1/2k window of torque
Interesting stuff this, wish i knew more about it

I think when new inlets are fitted paticuarly the lexmauls they create a wider band of torque on the 1.6
However I think the 2.0 ibiza will always have more due to been the larger engine

I did wonder what the wobble was all about
Is that a good graph Dave? More driveable than my corsa for example?

cant answer that one, that graph is a bit odd. I have used a dynojet and it was a nice smooth graph.

ignoring the fact the graph is a bit "edgy" looks nice nice smooth power deliver and a good spread of torque.
dunno what happened to the old 5252 calculation there tho

the 5250 calculation is irrelevan on more modern dynos, regardless of what they wrote in fast ford this month.
we had a tvr griffith 5 litre in today that makes peak power at 5000 rpm. that kind of destroys the argument of the 5250 myth a bit.

hows that tho dave, bhp is a calculation from torque, a rolling road is basically a strain gauge, this measure the turning force, which is torque, usuing BHP = Torque x RPM/ 5252
how can a graph not cross.......... or am i massivly missing something?
its irrelivent where the peak power is and what the engine size lol

On more modern dynos you can make them cross anywhere you like as the bhp and torque are written as seperate files which you can bring up on screen independently and scale to whichever parameters you like.
I can make my dyno scale so that they always cross at 5250 but it makes the graphs much harder to read.
You and jamie should use a dyno dynamics dyno sometime, I can guarantee you will want one. I have used allsorts of dynos but the DD machine is so nice to use, especially for steady state, I can dial the dyno in to hold any RPM I want, even down to variables as small as 10 rpm If I am being fussy with a map.

yeah i agree, but the scales need to be different. on his graph the scales are the same.
we have used the dyno dynamics rolling roads, we have had them come round etc. we bought a 4 x 4 maha rolling road, just building the new unit for it now.
you can load up the maha ones to hold a steady speed, the new one we have will hold 1500bhp, current one will hold 500bhp with no problems.
dyno dynamics do software is pretty cool i must admit.
we just use the superchips software at the moment, all it does it print off the graphs anyway.
